BLAIRSVILLE POLICE, PENNDOT TEAM UP TO STOP RED LIGHT RUNNING

Feb 24, 2024

Officials with PennDOT are teaming up with one local police department in an effort to prevent aggressive driving.

Blairsville Borough Police and PennDOT are teaming up with the National Coalition for Safer Roads (NCSR) for Stop on Red Week, which emphasizes the dangers of running red lights and other traffic signals that lead to preventable crash-related deaths. Running red lights is classified as aggressive driving, according to PennDOT, and it puts other motorists at an increased risk of crashing.

The initiative, which runs from Sunday, August 6 through Saturday, August 12, will see Blairsville police officers increase enforcement efforts and aggressively enforcing these types of violations among others.

The initiative was made possible through an Aggressive Driving Grant obtained by PennDOT.
